Maintaining your Child’s Medical Records

It is very important to maintain a personal file for medical records and health history of your child. Preferably start at birth, but if you haven’t done that it’s never too late to begin at the current age of your child. The file should include the name and contact details of your pediatrician and other doctors, store timings of your neighborhood pharmacy store, immunization records of your child, upcoming immunizations for the next 6 months, dates and durations of all illnesses including treatment medications and dosages, height and weight records. Most importantly also note down if you child is allergic to any food or medication.
Although it may be easier to retain all these records digital, it is very helpful to have a print record of important information so that when your child is unwell (especially in the middle of the night) you have immediate access to any information required.
